About the Position:

 

We are looking for a NAFTA Resin and plastic injection Commodity Specialist to join the Mechanical and Raw Materials Commodity Purchasing team, reporting directly to the NAFTA Mechanical and Raw Materials Commodity Leader and functionally to the Worldwide Head of the Commodity.
 

This position can be based at our offices in Mexico
 

Like the NAFTA Region Purchasing Manager at Marelli, you will play a strategic role in managing and optimizing purchasing operations across the Region. You will be responsible for overseeing a team of purchasing professionals, leading the development and implementation of local and global strategic purchasing plans, ensuring the cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.

Your Responsibilities will be:

As  NAFTA Resin and plastic injection Commodity Specialist , your Responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and drive the local US plastics injection and NAFTA Resins strategies, in accordance with Central Marelli’s KPI and guidances.
  • Coordinate the business units’ buyers in the plants and new projects’ buyers to achieve best cost, quality, sustainabilty, delivery conditions in new sourcing’s and for current businesses.
  • Interact with Company’s Senior Leadership and internal/external stakeholders to ensure sourcing solutions and shares are competitive both technically and commercially.
  • Identify and validate key outsourcing partners and component suppliers to ensure that all projects achieve all production, cost, profit objectives by the start of the project.
  • Develop strategic business relationships with key suppliers to ensure alignment between the strategy of our Company and the vision of key suppliers ensure access to suitable new technologies and production capacities.
  • Leverage strategic sourcing processes across Company to maximize Company’s combined purchase power and reduce overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiation, optimization of supplier’s partnerships and shares.
  • Participate to the make or buy definition including outsourcing and insourcing.
  • Identify, develop and facilitate the implementation of best practices and cross-functional commodity strategies across business units and regions. Balance global guidelines and regional needs to anticipate future Company’s needs, market and technology trends, and guide the organization on future decisions.
  • Serve as a point of escalation in the Region for plastics injections suppliers in USA and for resin suppliers in USA and Mexico (NAFTA).
  • Support the continuous people development of the purchasing team members in USA and Mexico with the scope of forming a competent, passionate, integer team.
  • Coordinate commercial and technical training on plastics injection and resin technologies, products, trends, suppliers, involving Company’s R&D, purchasing, operations and suppliers.
  • Develop category strategies that will reflect best-in-class pricing strategies and structures, supply base rationalization and compliance, agency partnerships, joint process improvement, campaign effectiveness, operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and global market and industry analysis.
  • Actively participate in key procurement activities, including RFx development and execution, Statement of Work (SOW), contract drafting, pricing and contract negotiations.
  • Identify, benchmark, and implement best-in-class practices within assigned categories to support the continuous improvement of global purchasing group's sourcing and procurement processes.
  • Oversee a structured process to select and manage supplier performance. Proactively participate to Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities.
  • Uphold internal and external polices, regulations and laws. Situation analysis and audit of current organization / process / data and systems. Gap analysis of as-is vs. to-be.
  • Propose new solutions that may be implemented worldwide or addressing local processes.
  • Lead commercial annual/quarterly negotiations for the assigned suppliers. Exercises discretion over the day-to-day operations and activities needed to achieve the Company’s targets.

 

 

What Qualifications you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Processes and Operations or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in the position offered, or in a similar position, such as Commodity Manager (Purchasing). Experience must include developing commodity purchasing strategies for plastic injection/resins products to ensure that all projects achieve all production, target cost/target profit objectives.

•    Proficiency in procurement tools, systems, and technologies.
•    Certifications: in procurement or supply chain management (such as Certified Professional in Supply Management - CPSM) are a plus
