About the Position:

 

We are looking for a SMT Process Engineer to join the Plant Manufacturing Engineering - Electronic Systems Aguascalientes team, reporting directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.
 

This position is based at our office in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
 

As the SMT Process Engineer at Marelli, you will be responsible for develop and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and quality in electronic system assembly.
This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, technical training, and problem-solving to enhance efficiency and product quality. 

Your Responsibilities will be:

 

  • Support the industrialization and validation of new products, materials, and technologies within SMT processes.
  • Identify and analyze specific technological challenges and collaborate on solutions and process improvements.
  • Assist Process Engineers with compatibility analysis, technical parameter definition, and FMEA activities.
  • Conduct process characterization tests and ensure manufacturability with current technologies.
  • Analyze defects and process losses, collaborating with cross-functional teams for resolution.
  • Develop and validate stencils and establish requirements for process and workstation design.
  • Create and manage technical documentation, visual aids, process sheets, and training materials for assigned processes.
  • Provide technical training and continuous knowledge updates to operators on new and existing technologies.
  • Participate in equipment procurement and installation, including specification definition and follow-up on initial setup and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with internal workplace regulations, code of conduct, safety standards, and environmental policies.
  • Contribute to personnel development activities, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What Qualifications you will bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanics, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in SMT process roles, including:
    • Laser marking or labeling
    • Solder paste printing
    • SPI (Solder Paste Inspection)
    • Surface mount technology with Panasonic or Fuji equipment
    • Reflow ovens
    • AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)
    • Advanced traceability of components and PCBAs
  • Strong documentation development and technical training skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Office suite, SAP, LabView, automotive core tools, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Other skills that we would welcome:

 

  • Programming and monitoring PLC control systems, vision systems, servo presses.
  • Advanced knowledge of assembly processes: soldering, assembly, measurement, poka yoke.
  • Advanced problem-solving tools (e.g., root cause analysis, 5W, DOE, QFD, Pareto charts).
