About the Position:

 

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer - Infotainment Systems and Automotive Displays to join the Mechanics, Electronics team, reporting directly to the Mechanical design – Team Manager.
 

This position is based at our office in Cluj-Napoca.
 

As the Mechanical Design Engineer - Infotainment Systems and Automotive Displays at Marelli, you will play a critical role in designing the architecture of the infotainment system or clusters according to customer specifications and requests.

Your Responsibilities will be:

 

  • Use CAD tools to develop, optimize, and ensure the manufacturability of mechanical products, balancing innovation, cost, compliance, and sustainability.
  • Develop detailed 2D drawings of mechanical components to ensure manufacturability and assembly with all necessary dimensions, tolerances and specifications according to standards.
  • Thoroughly document the design to ensure clarity and understanding.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to guide the design process, providing insights and recommendations supported by simulation validation.
  • Optimize product designs for performance enhancements, manufacturability, ease of assembly & cost reduction.
  • Prepare technical presentations and reports for internal design reviews and external stakeholder meetings.
  • Create design documentation, bill of materials (BOM) and specifications to ensure all design aspects are clearly communicated.

What Qualifications you will bring:

 

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. (valid and recognized in Europe).
  • 5 years+ of experience in the automotive industry, specifically in infotainment, displays, clusters and electro-kinematic mechanism.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5: Part Design, Generative Shape design, Drafting (NX CAD is an advantage).
  • Proven expertise of injection molding process, die-cast, thixomolding and stamping with good knowledge of materials properties.
  • Understanding of Automotive display& Infotainment system architecture. Experience with kinematic systems for interior components is an advantage.
  • Fluency in English; additional proficiency in French/German is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with customers and team members.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and drive projects to completion.

  • Demonstrate autonomy while working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of GD&T (ASME 14.5) standard and tolerance chain calculation.
  • Project Planning, Monitoring & Control capabilities.
  • DFMEA methodologies knowledge.
  • Availability for business trip.
