Mechanical Simulation Engineer

 

We are looking for a Mechanical Simulation Engineer to join the Electronic Components, Propulsion team, reporting directly to the Electronic Units Engineering manager.
 

This position is based at our office in Cluj-Napoca.
 

As the Mechanical Simulation Engineer at Marelli, you will be responsible to model and simulate the behavior and performance of Electronic Components units such as e-axles, inverters, engine/transmission control units and battery management systems for hybrid and electric vehicles.

Your Responsibilities will be:

 

  • Develop and implement complex simulation models to analyze and predict the behavior of systems and processes, leveraging state-of-the-art simulation tools and techniques.
  • Ensure simulations adhere to industry standards and best practices, focusing on accuracy, reliability, and scalability to support decision-making processes.
  • Utilize advanced software (such as, ANSYS or COMSOL) to create detailed simulations, validating models against empirical data and refining them for enhanced precision and performance.
  • Produce thorough and precise documentation of simulation methodologies, including model descriptions, assumptions, and boundary conditions, to provide clarity and reproducibility.
  • Document simulation results, analyses, and interpretations in detailed reports, highlighting key findings and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Develop user guides and technical documentation for simulation tools and models, ensuring they are easily accessible and understandable for team members and clients.
  • Verify the effectiveness of the simulation through correlation.

What Qualifications you will bring:

 

 

  • Bachelor / Master in Mechanical Engineering (with proven experience in FEA simulation).
  • Mechanical design or/and mechanical simulation.
  • Previous experience in automotive industry is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of simulation methods - concept and tools - with coursework or projects in Ansys/Abacus or other software.
  • Deep expertise with modelling and simulating using Ansys/Abacus products.
  • Strong proficiency with material resistance/mechanics/physics.
  • Strong proficiency with fundamental material models.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey ideas, ask questions, and seek clarifications.
  • Experience in mechanical design requirements management.
  • Very good experience in version control systems to manage changes and collaborate effectively within a development team.
  • Problem solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and propose effective solutions.
  • Presentation skills to convey medium/high complex technical concepts in an understandable manner to stakeholders or future customers.
  • Effective delegation and task management skills are also important to ensure work is assigned and completed efficiently.
  • Proven expertise in orchestrating simulation activities through planning, resource management, and strategic prioritization.
  • Possessing strong collaboration skills to effectively work with development team, simulation engineers, and validation teams, ensuring successful validation of components or systems.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Good written and spoken English.
