Background of the role

 Marelli is seeking a compliance leader with primary focus in Japan. The candidate will be primarily responsible for implementing Marelli’s compliance programs including implementation of compliance policies and procedures, provision of compliance training, and investigation of compliance concerns raised.  The successful candidate will report to the Head of Global Compliance based in Japan, and will work closely together with the global legal and compliance team, and will play a key leadership role in supporting Marelli’s leaders in Japan in achieving business results with unyielding integrity.

Responsibilities of the role

Enhancement and Implementation of compliance policies and procedures and Culture of Integrity: As a member of Marelli’s global legal and compliance team, the candidate will assist in creating, developing, fine-tuning, and implementing Marelli’s compliance policies and procedures, considering global compliance trends, the environment Marelli operates in, as well as country-specific risks and threats, with the goal of mitigating anticipated and unanticipated risks primarily in Japan, but with global trend in mind.  The role also includes supporting leaders in Japan by leading by example and working to create a world-class compliance program in Japan.

Compliance training: Closely work with global compliance team, create a catalog and plan of compliance training, both computer-based and in person, including risk-based focused group training of targeted groups of employees.

Investigation of concerns raised: Conduct compliance investigations in Japan by himself/herself, of concerns raised via employee hotline, walk-in, or other channels according to Marelli Integrity Hotline Procedure , and maintaining the hotline database.

Business-led Compliance Initiatives: he role also includes supporting business-led compliance initiatives, if any, serving as a liaison between the relevant business and global corporate compliance functions, ensuring a seamless, smooth implementation of various initiatives and programs without any conflicts causing any inefficiencies.

Supporting Internal Audit: The position will also support Marelli’s Internal Audit team in Japan.  Responsibilities include:

• Defining the necessary controls in conjunction with the region’s Internal Audit function leadership, with the knowledge of business cycles and associated key risks in Marelli’s business in Japan and Korea,
• Reviewing audit metrics to ensure adherence to controls and any remediation plan set by the Internal Audit function.

Qualifications Required/Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years post qualification experience in a multi-national organization
•  Exceptional verbal/written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of responsibility and authority in both English and Japanese.
• Must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to role model ethical leadership and set a standard for ethics and integrity in Marelli.
• Bar admission in in Japan or any common law jurisdiction is a plus factor, but not required.
