About the Position:

 

We are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to join the Purchasing Department, Supplier Quality ElectricalCommodity team, reporting directly to the Supplier Quality Electrical Commodity Manager.
This position is based at our office in Pulau Pinang.
As the Supplier Development Engineer at Marelli, you will follow the introduction and development of Electrical Suppliersand manage Electrical Components qualification activities, by granting the compliance to Automotive CustomerRequirements and to Automotive Quality standards.

Your Responsibilities will be:

Ensure complete Process and Product release of new Electrical/Electronic buy components from external suppliers incooperation with the development team (Project Buyer, Project Manager, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistic…) beforethe Start of production:

  • Support R&D, Project Buyer and Development Team in Supplier selection of new buy components from externalsupplier and all sourcing phases
  • Act as “One-voice” towards Suppliers across all involved Divisions
  • Ensure supply risk analysis evaluation in the early project phase

Lead the application of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology, performing Supplier project review,process audit and assessment and supplier capacity check:

  • Follow closely the development of innovative/critical electrical/electronic devices, applying the APQP methodologyand evaluating possible risks since early development phase.
  • Validate the APQP Review performed by or with the suppliers
  • Follow up the planning, execution and completion of all tasks required for Production part Approval Process (PPAP)evaluation and approval (including tool payments when relevant and interim approval management when applicable)
  • Support PPAP validation during Change Management process and promote second sourcing

Prepare and participate to the Sourcing Process:

  • Participate to Technical Analysis and validate suppliers solutions in terms of Quality, Technical/ Process, Capabilityand Timing; in line with the project team
  • Ensure lessons learned application through feasibility commitment and Technical Analysis approval
  • Ensure the implementation of Commodity state of the art and best in class standards/practice requirements insupplier processes through the application of Commodity Quality Check List
  • Ensure the transmission and implementation of Customer requirements
  • Support the definition of the Request For Quotation Package for new components

Manage Improvement Programs with Suppliers:

  • Take decisions, solve problems autonomously, escalate properly
  • Work across a global, matrixed organization, sharing and learning best practices
  • Continuous cooperation with Project Buyer, Commodity Purchasing organization, Project team and Suppliers
  • Participate to any relevant technical meeting with R&D and Suppliers

Manage Marelli Quality Contracts discussions with Suppliers: manage autonomously the necessary negotiation activities with Suppliers

What Qualifications you will bring:

EDUCATION (SCHOOL/SPECIALIZATION):
Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial sectors (electrical/electronicengineering, Physics or equivalent). Preferable/recommended: strong knowledge in the area of Semiconductors/ElectronicComponents
LANGUAGES:
fluent English (written, spoken)
EXPERIENCES:
Minimum 5 years in industrial sector, with at least 2 years in quality field; professional experience inautomotive industry preferred. Experience in supplier quality field is highly appreciated

  • Able to negotiate and convince, able to manage meetings
  • Perfect knowledge in approaching new component development: supplier selection, Requirements definition,Advance Product Quality Planning, verification of production capacity, Initial Samples Control Reports validation,Production Part Approval Process; experience in Process Audit (qualified Auditor license according to VDA 6.3 ispreferred)
  • Knowledge and practice of quality tools: FMEA, Statistical Process Control, Process capabilities, problem solving..(8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis, experience capitalization, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Quality Norm IATF 16949, Quality, Environmental, Sustainability and safety requirements
  • Good knowledge of MS office suites
  • Travel availability (30–50%)
