About the Position:

 

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Electronics Engineering & Innovation team, reporting directly to the Software Engineering Manager.
 

This position is based at our office in Tepotzotlán or Aguascalientes, Mexico.
 

As the Software Engineer at Marelli, you will focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing various software components across proprietary MCU platforms and Linux-based SoC environments. This role is an excellent opportunity to enhance your skills and contribute significantly to the development of next generation automotive systems. 

Your Responsibilities will be:

 

  • Assist in the development of software components for automotive IPC systems on both proprietary microcontroller units (MCUs) and Linux-based System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms.
  • Develop and maintain software tools and scripts that facilitate efficient software development and testing.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and development teams to ensure the interoperability and performance of different software modules.
  • Support the management and execution of software build processes, including automated and manual builds.
  • Aid in troubleshooting and resolving development issues under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Work alongside hardware and validation teams to ensure development processes align with overall system requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive software standards (e.g., ASPICE, MISRA) in development tasks.
  • Document development tasks and learnings to contribute to team knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in software configuration and change management activities under guidance.

What Qualifications you will bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in software development for embedded systems, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Basic proficiency in developing software on proprietary MCU platforms and Linux-based SoCs.
  • Familiarity with scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and tool use.
  • Understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN).
  • Experience with real-time systems and basic development tools.
  • Ability to read and understand hardware schematics to support development tasks.
  • Familiarity with software development tools such as Git, JIRA, and DOORS. 

Other skills that we would welcome:

 

  • Exposure to development tools like Vector CANoe and basic use of DaVinci Configurator/Developer.
  • Initial experience or knowledge of bootloader, flashing mechanisms, or secure diagnostics is beneficial.
  • Understanding of AUTOSAR concepts and middleware components.
  • Introduction to compilers, debuggers, and testing tools for embedded systems
