About the Position:

 

We are looking for a Tax Senior Manager in Mexico. The Tax Manager role requires a robust background in tax compliance, strategic planning, and execution. The Tax Sr Manager will ultimately be responsible for supporting and supervising various tax compliance, tax consulting and tax planning activities as they relate to the Mexico entities. 

These activities include managing the monthly/quarterly/annual tax compliance obligations, managing and assisting with various tax projects, and overseeing and communicating tax findings with internal and external contacts.  The Tax Sr Manager supports the ongoing optimization of Marelli’s tax functions, working closely with senior tax professionals and external advisors to secure Marelli’s compliance and financial performance.

Your Responsibilities will be:

  • Advanced Tax Compliance and Filing: Prepare and submit complex tax returns, ensuring adherence to local and global regulations. Optimize filings using deep tax law knowledge to support Marelli’s compliance.
  • Tax Calculations: Contribute to the formulation and documentation of accounting info for income tax, VAT, and withholding taxes (wages, fees, freight, foreign payments, payroll taxes).
  • Recordkeeping: Manage detailed tax records accurately. Perform intricate tasks under senior tax personnel guidance.
  • Tax Provisioning and Reconciliation: Compute tax provisions and reconcile tax-related financial accounts. Use analytical skills to improve the accuracy of financial statements and tax reports.
  • Tax Research and Advisory: Research tax implications of business decisions, providing insights to managers. Stay updated on tax legislation changes and strategize accordingly, understanding complex Maquiladora regulations.
  • Collaboration and Audits: Work with external consultants and auditors, providing necessary data for audits. Advocate Marelli’s interests during audits and consultations.
  • Professional Growth: Commit to learning and development in tax domains like transfer pricing, multinational taxation, and tax reporting standards. Mentor junior staff by sharing knowledge and best practices.

What Qualifications you will bring:

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
  • Experience:
    • 6-8 years of comprehensive experience in tax preparation, planning, and compliance, with a demonstrated growth in responsibility within a tax department.
    • Proven track record in managing complex tax strategies, including expertise in transfer pricing and familiarity with international tax issues.
    • General knowledge of foreign trade, the IMMEX program, Maquiladora organizational structures, and VAT certification.
    • Experience with tax audits and direct interactions with tax authorities.

  • Technical Proficiencies:
    • Advanced proficiency in tax software and ERP systems.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, especially as they relate to tax.
