About the Position:
We are looking for a Indirect Tax Director to join the Tax team, reporting directly to the Head of Tax.
This position is based at our office in Trnava.
As the Indirect Tax Director at Marelli, you will be responsible:
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Managing all VAT, GST, Sales tax and related matters for the different entities of the Marelli Group worldwide with a specific focus on EMEA.
- Global Tax Compliance Leadership: Assume ultimate responsibility for Marelli’s adherence to tax laws worldwide for VAT, GST, Sales tax and related taxes. Develop comprehensive strategies to manage compliance risk and leverage tax opportunities.
- Monitor and review indirect tax compliance activities carried out by the internal service center together with the external consultants.
- Provide strategic advice on the indirect tax implications of business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructuring.
- Ensure that indirect tax planning is integrated into the decision-making process to optimize outcomes.
- Monitor and analyze changes in tax legislation and regulations.
- Guide the company in understanding implications and strategize timely and effective responses.
- Forge strategic relationships with external tax advisors and auditing firms.
- Lead Marelli through audits and inquiries by effectively managing these relationships and leveraging their expertise.
What Qualifications you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. A degree in Taxation is highly desirable.
- Minimum 12 years of progressive experience in indirect tax.
- Extensive executive-level experience in tax preparation, planning, and strategy, particularly in a leadership role within a multinational corporation.
- Deep experience in managing indirect taxes (VAT, GST, Sales and Use Tax), and international tax considerations.
- Proven track record in managing tax audits and maintaining successful relationships with tax authorities.
- Strong leadership qualities with a proven ability to build, manage, and develop a global team.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of articulating complex tax strategies to non-specialists and influencing senior management decisions.
- In-depth familiarity with tax software, ERP systems, and a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting as it pertains to taxation.
