About the Position:

 

We are looking for a Material Planning Senior Specialist to join the Logistics Electronics team, reporting directly to the Material Planning Coordinator
 

This position is based at our office in Tepotzotlán, México.
 

As the Material Planning Senior Specialist at Marelli, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and timely provision of materials required for production within the electronics plant. This role will coordinate material requirements, maintain inventory levels, communicate with suppliers, and collaborate with internal departments to support smooth and cost-effective operations. 

Your Responsibilities will be:

  • Material Requirement Planning:
    Develop, review, and maintain material plans based on production schedules, forecasts, and customer orders.

  • Inventory Management:
    Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or excesses; analyze data and place orders to maintain optimal stock.

  • Supplier Coordination:
    Work closely with suppliers on delivery schedules, lead times, and order status to ensure timely receipt of materials.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Liaise with purchasing, production, quality, and logistics teams to resolve issues related to material availability, quality, and delivery.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    Track material flow and usage; prepare and present regular reports on inventory status, shortages, and material planning performance.

  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify and implement process improvements to optimize material planning and inventory controls.

  • ERP System Management:
    Utilize ERP and material planning systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for order placement, tracking, and data management.

  • Problem Solving:
    Address material discrepancies, emergency shortages, and last-minute changes in production requirements promptly and effectively.

What Qualifications you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Prior experience in material planning, preferably within an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

    Understanding of electronic components and ability to learn technical aspects of materials used within the plant.

  • Teamwork:
    Collaborative mindset, working effectively with colleagues across departments and sites.

  • Data Interpretation:
    Proficient in interpreting large sets of data to support decision-making and forecasting.

  • Customer Orientation:
    Sensitivity to internal customer (production line, engineering, etc.) needs and priorities.

  • Accurate Material Forecasting:
    Consistently provide reliable forecasts to ensure the right quantity and quality of materials are available for uninterrupted production.

  • Efficient Inventory Management:
    Maintain balanced inventory—avoiding both shortages that impact production and excess inventory that increases costs.

  • Timely Delivery Coordination:
    Ensure all materials are delivered to the plant on schedule, proactively resolving any delivery issues.

  • Effective Communication:
    Communicate clearly and promptly with suppliers, internal teams, and management regarding material status, shortages, and critical updates.

  • Process Improvement:
    Actively seek opportunities to enhance material planning processes for greater efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.

  • ERP System Mastery:
    Demonstrate expertise in using ERP and material management systems to track, update, and report on material status.

  • Issue Resolution:
    Respond quickly to unplanned changes or problems—such as shortages, delays, or quality issues—minimizing impact on operations.

  • Compliance:
    Adhere to company policies, procedures, and industry regulations throughout all planning and material handling activities.

  • Support Plant Objectives:
    Align material planning activities with broader plant goals—such as productivity targets, quality standards, and customer satisfaction.

  • Continuous Professional Development:
    Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in material planning and supply chain management.
