About the Position:
We are looking for a SDE (Supplier Development Engineer) to join the Interiors team, reporting directly to the Supplier Development Engineer Manager.
This position is based at our office in Saitama Yoshimi.
As the SDE (Supplier Development Engineer) at Marelli, you will be responsible to boost competitiveness through an ongoing focus on innovation, upon which Magneti Marelli has built its reputation, and “Monozukuri” - the excellence in product, process and quality which Calsonic Kansei is known for. Now Marelli is the 7th largest independent automotive supplier in the world.
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Collect project BOM and analyze the BOM for project upload and open in the APQP portal
- Ensure material catalog respected for new project development
- Assign SDE for technical analysis to support new project sourcing process
- Ensure supply risk analysis evaluation in the early project phase
- Monitoring the outsource components APQP progress and ensure release on time
- Weekly project APQP governance meeting with SDE team to identify project risk and define action plan
- Support SDE to manage the roadblock or escalation during the project development
- Ensure lessons learned application
- Ensure the implementation of Commodity state of the art and best in class standards/practice requirements in supplier processes through the application of Commodity Quality Check List
- Ensure the transmission and implementation of Customer requirements
- Drive the mindset change and ensure APQP application
- Enhance safe launch implementation
- Monitoring KPI targets achievement and drive actions to meet or exceed the targets
- Motivate the SDEs work hard towards target achievement
- Coash SDEs for individual growth
- Work with SDEs on customer complaint problem solving and drive continuous improvement
- Drive suppliers improvement and growth
- Take decisions, solve problems autonomously, escalate properly
- Work across a global, matrixed organization, sharing and learning best practices
- Other assignment by management
What Qualifications you will bring:
- EDUCATION (SCHOOL/SPECIALIZATION): Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial sectors (Mechanical engineering, Physics or equivalent).
- LANGUAGES: fluent English and Japanese (written, spoken)
- EXPERIENCES: Minimum 5 years in quality field; professional experience in automotive industry preferred. Experience in supplier quality field is highly appreciated

- Analysis and synthesis skills, ability to propose solutions and take responsibilities/ownership, bear up to pressure, deal with suppliers Management
- Good knowledge of Project Management
- Able to negotiate and convince, able to manage meetings
- Good knowledge in approaching new component development: supplier selection, Requirements definition, Advance Product Quality Planning, verification of production capacity, Initial Samples Control Reports validation, Production Part Approval Process; experience in Process Audit (qualified Auditor license according to VDA 6.3 is preferred)
- Knowledge and practice of quality tools: FMEA, Statistical Process Control, Process capabilities, problem solving.. (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Fault Tree Analysis, experience capitalization, etc.)
- Knowledge of Quality Norm IATF 16949, Quality, Environmental, Sustainability and safety requirements
- Command of MS office suites
