About the Position:
We are looking for a SMT Clean Room Operations Manager to join the Electronic Systems Plant team, reporting directly to the Plant Manager.
This position is based at our office in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
As the Production Unit Manager - Clean Room at Marelli, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing SMT operations within clean room environments, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient manufacturing processes for electronic components.
This role involves leading a team, managing resources, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to achieve production goals.
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Oversee daily SMT production, including equipment setup, process control, and quality assurance within clean room standards (ISO 14644 or equivalent).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting yield, throughput, and cost reduction.
- Lead and develop a team of line operators, technicians, and support staff; ensure training on clean room protocols and SMT best practices.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and corporate standards (e.g., ESD control, contamination prevention).
- Collaborate with engineering for process optimization and troubleshooting, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs): cycle time, first-pass yield, defective rates, and productivity metrics.
- Manage preventive maintenance schedules for SMT equipment (pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, AOI, SPI, etc.).
- Interface with supply chain and logistics to ensure timely availability of components and materials.
- Prepare reports for senior management; support audits and customer visits.
What Qualifications you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, or related field; advanced certifications preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience in SMT operations, ideally in automotive or high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and clean room protocols.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Expertise in SMT equipment (e.g., Panasonic, Yamaha, ASM), process validation, and defect analysis.
