This position is based at our office in Corbetta.
As the CfO Optical Systems Lead at Marelli, you will be responsible within the assigned region for overseeing and providing expertise in optical technologies and systems, serving as the main Marelli technical reference in front of regional customers. The perimeter may be determined by a product line (e.g., Displays, Instrument Clusters), specific customers (e.g., German OEMs), or a mix of both.
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Actively participate in each RFI/RFQ for the assigned product line(s) and/or customer(s), becoming a key member of the offer team.
- Ensure the proposed technical solution aligns with Marelli platform optical standards, while tailoring designs to customer expectations when necessary.
- Coordinate or delegate, as needed, the Optical/Display offer process and remain accountable for the quality and completion of activities.
- Guarantee availability of cost/effort estimations for offers—including homologation requirements—by collaborating with the Optics Center of Expertise (CoE).
- Ensure delivery of the draft Optical/Display Time Plan aligned with the overall project workflow.
- Secure coverage of entry-level optical requirements, dependency analysis (software, hardware, validation), and raise any customer queries.
- Oversee development of high-level optical design concepts, leveraging EPL and Optics CoE expertise.
- Coordinate creation and integration of Optical/Display Bill of Materials into hardware and mechanical BoMs.
- Supervise preliminary optical simulations and studies for concept validation.
- Support regional benchmarking analysis of competitor/customer products.
- Collaborate with Advanced Engineering & Innovation/Product Management to prepare and present Proof of Concepts to customers.
- During project development, act as the customer-facing technical reference for optical systems, facilitating communication, clarifying technical points, and maintaining solution consistency.
- Support System Front Desk in issue resolution, change request management, and technical reporting throughout the development lifecycle.
- After SOP, maintain support for optical-related change requests, VA/VE actions initiated by the customer, and field return analysis.
What Qualifications you will bring:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in physics, Electronic Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in optical, display, and cover lens development within automotive embedded systems.
- Proven experience managing successful customer-facing technical activities.
Other skills that we would welcome:
- Experience in interaction with international automotive customers (OEMs).
- Familiarity with benchmarking, Proof of Concept preparation, and technical demonstrations.
- Experience with homologation and validation processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing constraints, tool chains, and customer-specific processes.
- Advanced knowledge of optical materials, display technologies, cover lens systems, and illumination for automotive clusters/displays.
- Proficiency with optical simulation tools and concept evaluation.
- Experience with integrating optical BoMs into complex product architectures.
- Understanding of processes required for DV/PV validation and regulatory homologation.
Expectations from you in this position:
- Deep expertise in optical/display system development, especially for automotive embedded applications.
- Cost and time estimation for complex optical projects.
- Project management and cross-functional team coordination.
- Customer-oriented approach and relationship management.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
What does this position offer you:
- Fast-paced yet supportive and high-performing international team with an inspiring ambition to transform the future of mobility.
- Support in onboarding and further training that will set you up with Marelli's speed.
