About the Position:
We are looking for a Hardware Engineering COE to join the Electronics Business Center of Excellence, and reporting directly to the Vice President of Electronics Business Engineering.
This position would be based in one of our office in EMEA.
As the Hardware Engineering at Marelli, you will lead the global hardware engineering organization, establishing standards, driving innovation, and ensuring world-class delivery across all regions. This position shapes the future of automotive hardware by aligning technical strategy, competence development, and operational excellence to support business objectives and customer needs.
Your Responsibilities will be:
- Develop and execute the global hardware engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with Electronics Business vision and market trends.
- Lead and manage a geographically distributed team of senior leaders, specialists, and coordinators across all hardware functions.
- Oversee all hardware development activities, from concept to production, including system architecture, component selection, validation, and launch support.
- Establish and maintain common engineering processes, tools, and best practices across the global hardware community.
- Foster cross-functional collaboration between hardware, software, mechanical design, and manufacturing interfaces.
- Optimize resource allocation and staff development globally, ensuring the right skills and expertise for diverse project needs.
- Drive continuous improvement in quality, cost, efficiency, and innovation across all projects.
- Ensure robust project governance, including budget management, investment planning, and compliance with financial targets.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal & external customers, partners, and suppliers; promote customer-focused solutions.
- Represent hardware engineering in steering committees and strategic initiatives.
- Lead periodic global reporting on hardware progress, project status, expenses, and organizational performance to the VP Engineering.
- Cultivate an environment of excellence, learning, and engagement—attracting and developing top global talent.
What Qualifications you will bring:
- Inspirational leadership, team development, and global organizational management.
- Strategic vision with pragmatic execution.
- Deep understanding of automotive hardware design, development, and validation processes.
- Strong business acumen—budget, financial planning and RFQ.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with APQP, FMEA, FTA, and advanced engineering methodologies.
- Ability to synthesize and prioritize complex technical and business issues.
- Collaborative mindset, adept at working with worldwide, multicultural teams.
- Focus on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
Technical and Educational Requirements:
- Advanced Degree in Electronic Engineering or related field.
- Significant experience (10+ years) in hardware engineering leadership for automotive electronics or similar sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of OEM requirements for clusters, displays, infotainment, telematics, and related electronics.
- Proven record interfacing with manufacturing, purchasing, and supply chain teams.
- Familiarity with electrical engineering tools, methods, and HW/SW & HW/Mechanical interfaces.
