About the Position:

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer (“Mechanical Systems Lead”) to join the EMEA Customer front Office (CfO) team. This position can be based either at our office in Torino or at our office in Corbetta.

Your Responsibilities will be:

The EMEA CfO Mechanical Systems Lead is responsible for overseeing and providing expertise in mechanical technologies and systems in front of Marelli EMEA customers.

He is assigned a perimeter defined by a product line (e.g. Display, Cockpit), a (set of) customer(s) (e.g. Stellantis, German OEM's) or a combination of both (e.g. Cockpit for Stellantis) à the position specifically targeted to be covered here primarily deals with Display for German OEM’s.

Main responsibilities / activities in offer phase:

  • For the assigned product line and/or EMEA customer(s), the CfO Mechanical Systems Lead is involved in each received RFI/RFQ. He is part of the offer team.
  • He must secure the alignment of the solution offered to the customer with the standard technical solution currently or planned to be promoted by the Mechanics Center of Excellence (CoE), matching the expectation of the customer.
  • With support of the CfO Head, Mechanics CoE Head and the concerned Engineering Product Line (EPL) Head, identifies the Mechanics resources who will lead or support the offer process:
  • Drives the Mechanical offer process OR gets assigned by the Mechanics CoE Head someone else to drive in case of workload limitation / specific skills requirement (then remaining accountable).
    • Is accountable for the availability:
      • of the effort/cost estimation of the offer, to be built by the Mechanics CoE team.
      • of a draft Mechanical Time Plan built by the Mechanics CoE, matching Project Level 1 Time Plan meeting points.
      • from Mechanics CoE of the coverage of the entry Mechanical requirements, of the dependencies on other functions (HW, validation...) in terms of feasibility and impact analysis and of possible questions to the customer.
      • of the Mechanical Bill of Material (BoM) with Mechanics CoE support.
      • of the high-level Technical presentation, to be built by Mechanics CoE.
      • of the preliminary general characteristics (materials, dimensional tolerances, cleanliness, etc.) needed for quotation.
      • of the preliminary 3D data (if needed) with CoE support.I
    • In parallel to / during offers, supports the Proof of Concepts planned to be presented to the customers, in collaboration with Advanced Engineering & Innovation and/or Product Management teams.

Main responsibilities / activities in development phase:

  • At the start of development (after project kick-off), the overall accountability mentioned as part of the offer phase is handed-over to the Mechanics CoE.
  • However, the CfO Mechanical Reference supports the Project Core Team as per the below direction:
  • Is informed about the progress of Mechanical activities as part of the project.
    • Helps to improve the communication with the customer whenever required, securing an efficient link between the customer and the Mechanics CoE team.
    • Ensures awareness within the Mechanical project team of the processes, tool chains and constraints specific to the customer.
    • Thanks to his involvement during the offer, helps to monitor the consistency between the proposed and the implemented solutions and supports possible needs for clarification from the customer in development phase.
    • Supports the evaluation of the Customer Change Requests.

Main responsibilities / activities in maintenance phase:

  • The activities listed as part of the Development phase remain valid post SOP in case of change requests raised by the customer and VA/VE actions shared with the customer.
  • Additionally supports System Front Desk and Quality teams in case of local plant/field return requiring R&D analysis

What Qualifications you will bring:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Education/Knowledge oriented to Automotive embedded systems and their design.
  • Good Knowledge of mechanical system/equipment and testing Automotive Validation.
  • Strong experience (8+) in similar role from automotive (preferred), traction or industrial sectors.
  • Strong functional leadership experience.
  • Team-working mindset and Good interactional and communication skills.
  • Fluent English.
  • Kwnoledge of the integration of the display technology (LCD, OLED) in car architecture.
  • Extensive knowledge of GD&T (ASME 14.5) standard and tolerance chain calculation.
  • Knowledge of plastic and/or metal raw materials (Aluminum, Magnesium) properties and their application in automotive electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of plastic and/or metal production tools and processes, post productions treatments processes like graining, painting and chrome plating processes.
  • Knowledge of molding equipment, mold maintenance and mold remaking processes or on metal stamping, die casting, thixoforming processes.

  • Availability for business trip.
  • Project Planning, Monitoring & Control capabilities.
  • CAD, Catia, Teamcenter.
  • Data management.
  • Jira, Appian SW.

Expectations from you in this position:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with customers and team members.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage product full life cycle since customer requirements definition in cooperation with other departments.
  • Be able to interface on customer and even on supplier side dealing with challenging technical topics about product you are in charge of.
  • Innovative mindset being open to learn and to develop customized solutions for our customers.
